Our Charlie .......

I hadn't taken much notice of Charlie until this spring. That's when I started seeing all the schenigins going on in the pasture. Boy, if you think human life is complicated, you ain't seen nothing compared to these horses. It's a real Payton Place out there !

Charlie came to the rescue a very confused and angry horse, then over time found safety and love, and mellowed out. Then he met Trudy.

Trudy is pretty close to blind, and is probably the most abused horse that was rescued and brought to the Farm. Cheryl can see the pasture where Charlie and Trudy roam from her kitchen window. As she tells it, they're like an old married couple. They met and dated, feel in love, got engaged. Charlie cheated on Trudy, Trudy forgave him and took him back. They got married and all was blissful for awhile, then Charlie cheated again. Trudy dumped him, then forgave him again, and took Charlie back.

Well, this seems to be the way of Charlie and Trudy. In the end, Charlie always returns to Trudy, and Trudy always takes him back. I guess Trudy just feels safe with Charlie.

I was in the pasture just last week and Charlie is really something else. Looking at him his legs are very long, and his body sleek . Most of this summer the horses have been hiding under the trees or up in the back pasture. With the weather turning cooler the horses are finally starting to show themselves again. Charlie's winter coat is starting to come in and thicken up. He looks well. He looks happy. He's a sweet guy.
